How it works
Each organism spends energy to move — faster, larger, sharper-eyed
creatures burn more. They hunt food, and once well-fed they reproduce,
passing traits to offspring with small mutations. Aggressive organisms
can prey on smaller ones. Starvation and old age cull the population,
so whichever trait mix survives best comes to dominate. Colour encodes
the dominant traits: hue = speed, glow = vision.
